We were proud to mark our 42nd year at RHS Chelsea Flower Show with a 28th Gold Medal for our carefully crafted display of fragrant English roses.

Every appearance at this prestigious event is many months in the planning, from selecting the theme and designing the stand, to meticulously preparing the selected roses and bringing it all together for one magical week each year.

There were many memorable moments at this years show, none more so than the unveiling of our new English rose, Emma Bridgewater™ (Aus44a16). Named in tribute to the iconic British potter, this variety drew the attention of gardening enthusiasts from far and wide.

Reflecting on the show, David J. C. Austin says: “We are very proud to have been awarded a Gold medal for the 28th time at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, as it’s a testament not only to the beauty of our roses but to our team’s knowledge, skill and dedication. It was also wonderful to see visitors’ positive first reactions to our new Emma Bridgewater rose, which we unveiled at the show after 12 years of meticulous breeding and trialling.

Chelsea in Bloom

This year was extra special as David Austin Roses took part for the first time in Chelsea in Bloom – Chelsea’s annual floral art show and London’s largest free-to-attend festival of flowers.

As part of this year’s ‘Floral Feasts’ theme, our brand-new Emma Bridgewater™ rose was part of the Peter Jones installation in Sloane Square which received a Silver medal from the judges and came second in the Public Choice vote. To top it off, David and Emma enjoyed a cup of tea amongst the roses, much to the delight of passersby.
